Day 3 - Vienna, Austria

Vienna, the City of Waltzes, is Europes classical music hub, where legends like Strauss and Mozart composed some of their greatest works. The citys musical heritage is matched by its elegant architecture along the Ringstrasse, with Baroque, neo-Renaissance, Gothic-Romanesque, and other styles on full display. Landmarks such as the Hofburg Palace and Vienna State Opera impress with their grandeur, while quiet footpaths through green parks and the city's famous cafes - serving rich coffee and the iconic Sachertorte - reveal Viennas more intimate, charming side.

Day 4 - Vienna, Austria

Vienna is one of Europes premier cultural hubs, blending historic and modern artistic expressions. The Hapsburgs fine art collection is now displayed at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, while contemporary street art adorns buildings along the Danube. Coffeehouse culture is deeply ingrained in local life and recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage, making it a true delight to spend an afternoon enjoying an Einspänner coffee with a pastry.

Day 5 - Scenic Sailing: Wachau Valley & Melk, Austria

Scenic Sailing: Wachau Valley - Sail through the tranquil Wachau Valley, where terraced vineyards, forested slopes, charming towns and castle ruins line the Danube. This 18-mile stretch, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcases picturesque hillsides dotted with grapevines and quaint wine villages, reflecting a legacy that dates back to Celtic and Roman times and the more than 30 monasteries that once tended the vineyards in the Renaissance. Melk, Austria - Set amid an important wine-growing region of picturesque villages and fairy-tale castles, the charming city of Melk lies at the base of the Wachau Valley. An imposing 900-year-old Benedictine abbey, a stunning example of baroque architecture, overlooks the town from its dramatic hilltop location. This architectural treasure has 365 windows, one for each day of the year, and the views from its expansive balcony are stunning. Its beautiful library houses priceless medieval manuscripts and marvelous frescoes by Paul Troger, and its meticulously kept grounds are inviting and picturesque.

Day 6 - Passau, Germany

Founded over 2,000 years ago by the Celts, Passau is one of Bavaria's oldest cities. Known as the "City of Three Rivers," it sits at the confluence of the Inn, Ilz and Danube rivers. Its strategic location helped the city grow in economic and political power, a legacy still visible in graceful arcades, colorful rococo facades, and the baroque St. Stephen's Cathedral, which houses one of Europe's largest pipe organs. Passau also marks the start of the German-Austrian border.

Day 7 - Regensburg, Germany

Regensburg is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities and the oldest city along the Danube, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Having escaped major damage during World War II, the town boasts remarkable historic landmarks. The 12th-century Old Stone Bridge, with its 16 arches, is a feat of medieval engineering. St. Peter's Cathedral is widely regarded as Bavaria's finest example of Gothic architecture. Neupfarrplatz square reflects the city's layered history, having been a Jewish quarter, a bustling marketplace, and the site of Nazi book burnings.

Day 8 - Scenic Sailing: Main-Danube Canal & Nuremberg, Germany

Scenic Sailing: Main-Danube Canal, Germany: As far back as 1,200 years ago, visionary Frankish Emperor Charlemagne contemplated connecting the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers so ships could travel the length of Europe. Today, his dream comes dramatically to life. The Main-Danube Canal uses 16 stair-step river locks that allow vessels to travel 2,200 miles through 10 countries, from the North Sea coast of Holland to the Black Sea shores of Romania. Nuremberg, Germany: The second-largest city in Bavaria, Nuremberg is filled with traditional half-timbered houses and Gothic churches with intricate spires. Although nearly destroyed during World War II, the remaining medieval city walls stretch about three miles and feature original gateways and 80 watchtowers. Nuremberg is historically known for its metal and toy craftsmanship, but it is also infamous for its role in World War II, first as the site of Zeppelin Field's Nazi rallies and later as the site of the war crimes trials at the Palace of Justice that captured the attention of a generation.

Day 9 - Bamberg, Germany

Founded in 902, Bamberg is a medieval-looking city celebrated for its symphony orchestra and rauchbier, a specialty smoked beer. Its winding streets are lined with baroque patrician houses and feature the stunning 11th-century Cathedral of Holy Roman Emperor Heinrich II, which houses his tomb and that of Pope Clement II. Bamberg is also known for the Altes Rathaus, or Old Town Hall, perched on a twin-arched bridge over the Regnitz River, as well as the historic bishop's houses: the 16th-century Alte Hofhaltung (Old Court) and the 17th-century Neue Residenz (New Residence).

Day 10 - Wurzburg, Germany

Surrounded by Franconian vineyards, Wurzburg is a prestigious university city and a jewel of baroque architecture. Although heavily damaged during World War II, it has been fully restored. The city's crowning glory is the Bishops Residenz palace, built in 1744, featuring a sweeping staircase and magnificent ceiling frescoes by Tiepolo. Other highlights include the medieval, statue-lined Old Main Bridge and Marienberg Fortress, originally a Celtic hill fort and later the bishops residence. Wurzburg remains a major wine-making center, home to Germany's oldest and largest vineyard.

Day 11 - Wertheim, Germany

Situated at the confluence of the Main and Tauber Rivers, Wertheim is a charming town steeped in history. The dukes of Wertheim built a castle here in the 12th century, and although it was captured and destroyed during the Thirty Years War, it remains impressive today, overlooking the medieval town center and half-timbered houses. Its Pointed Tower has guarded the river junction for 800 years. Once a thriving merchants town in the Middle Ages, Wertheim is now renowned for its Franconian wines.

Day 12 - Scenic Sailing: Middle Rhine & Koblenz, Germany

Scenic Sailing: Middle Rhine, Germany - The Rhine River winds through one of Germany's most scenic regions. Sailing along the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Middle Rhine, you'll pass hills blanketed with vineyards, where steep slopes mean grapes are still picked by hand, preserving centuries-old traditions. Magnificent castles dot the riverbanks, each with its own story, while the legendary Lorelei Rock looms over a dramatic bend in the river. According to folklore, the river maiden Lorelei enchanted sailors with her song, leading them to their doom at the rock's base. Koblenz, Germany - Koblenz is a traditional German city, founded more than 2,000 years ago. This former trading settlement rests on a massif of the Middle Rhine Highlands. Its cobblestone streets, wood-beamed houses adorned with flowers, ancient market square and medieval churches recall the fairy-tale Germany of old. At the German Corner, a massive equestrian statue of Prince William I observes the lovely riverside scene. The famed Teutonic Knights set up their first base here in 1216. The Romanesque Basilica of St. Castor, Koblenz's oldest building, dates to 836.

Day 13 - Cologne, Germany

Cologne showcases its Roman roots through its city layout and scattered ancient ruins. Modern plazas and Hohe Strasse feature welcoming shops, inviting restaurants, and boutique cologne stores. The city's 13th-century cathedral is a stunning example of Gothic architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Remarkably, it survived Allied bombings during World War II. Its towering twin spires are visible for miles, and the cathedral's stained glass windows fill the interior with vibrant, colorful light. Visitors can climb its steps to a platform offering breathtaking views over the city.

Day 14 - Scenic Sailing: Waal & Merwede & Kinderdijk, The Netherlands

Scenic Sailing: Waal & Merwede - Sail the peaceful waters of the Rhine deep into the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt Delta, where classic Dutch landscapes stretch as far as the eye can see. Flat farmland, charming windmills, and slender poplar trees line the shores, while vast fields produce everything from tomatoes to tulips. Keep an eye out for Friesian cows grazing beside tidy villages with neatly arranged farmhouses. Much of this land was reclaimed from the sea, a feat achieved through traditional windmills and the construction of dikes. Kinderdijk, The Netherlands - Kinderdijk is a village community in the Alblasserwaard province. This corner of South Holland, part of the scenic Waal and Merwede regions, has long been shaped by Rhine Delta waters. Kinderdijk is most known for its 19 remarkably preserved 18th-century windmills. The charming hamlet is located amid low-lying polders, tracts of land reclaimed from the sea by the power of the windmills and enclosed by embankments, or dikes. This legendary place calls to mind the 1865 novel Hans Brinker, in which a heroic boy plugs his finger into a ruptured dike.
