Is a travel club worth it? It's the question every savvy Aussie asks before handing over a monthly fee, and fair enough. Nobody wants another subscription quietly nibbling at the bank account while the suitcase gathers dust in the garage. So we've done something a bit unusual for a travel club blog: we've sat down with a calculator, pulled the real numbers off our own live deals, and worked out exactly when a YONDA membership pays for itself, and when it doesn't.
No fluffy promises, no "save a squillion" headlines. Just the honest maths, the way you'd work it out with a mate over a cuppa. Grab a pen. Let's crunch.

Quick takeaways
- The fee: YONDA Premium is $19.95 a month or $199 a year. Ultra is $49.95 a month or $499 a year. Black is $99.95 a month or $999 a year.
- The credit: every paid tier drops GO Dollars travel credit into your account monthly: $50 (Premium), $150 (Ultra) or $250 (Black).
- The gap: on our current 3-night Aussie resort deals, the member price sits around $99 to $100 below the non-member price, before any GO Dollars come off.
- The verdict: if you take at least two short breaks a year, the annual Premium fee is basically covered by the member price gap alone. Everything else is gravy.
- The catch: if you travel once every few years, a membership probably isn't for you (yet). We'll show you why below.
What a YONDA membership actually costs
Let's start with the bit most travel clubs bury in the fine print: the price tag. Here's what each tier costs today, straight off our subscriptions page.
| Tier | Monthly | Yearly | GO Dollars each month | GO Dollars over 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Premium | $19.95 | $199 | $50 | $600 |
| Ultra | $49.95 | $499 | $150 | $1,800 |
| Black | $99.95 | $999 | $250 | $3,000 |
Two quick things jump out. First, paying yearly is the smart move if you're in for the long haul. Premium monthly works out at $239.40 over twelve months, versus $199 paid up front. That's about $40 back in your pocket for doing absolutely nothing. Ultra monthly comes to $599.40 a year against $499 yearly, a $100 difference. Black monthly totals $1,199.40 against $999 yearly, so you keep about $200.
Second, the monthly plans are billed with no lock-in, so you can cancel anytime. If you're on the fence, starting monthly and switching to yearly once you've booked a trip or two is a perfectly sensible way to test the waters.
What else comes in the box
Every paid tier includes GO Deals, the Go Further e-magazine, a digital membership card, YONDA Everyday Savings (listed as 4 to 10% off at 60+ leading retailers) and free accumulating entries into our monthly member giveaways. Premium gets one entry a month, Ultra gets four and Black gets ten, and the entries never expire.
Ultra adds Insider Deals, Supercharged Savings and YONDA Experiences savings. Black adds all that plus a physical membership card, access to exclusive YONDA Tours and Yonda Concierge, a real human who'll help plan your itinerary and chase the best deal for you.
Quick heads-up for honesty's sake: our member benefits shopping platform is being upgraded right now, so the everyday retail savings are in a "coming back bigger" phase. We've left them out of the maths below so we're not counting chickens.
The real maths on a 3-night getaway
Here's where it gets interesting. Every YONDA deal shows two prices: the member price and the non-member price. We pulled six live 3-night resort deals from yonda.com.au so you can see the gap for yourself. All prices are per room, in Aussie dollars, as listed on each deal page at the time of writing.
| Deal (3 nights) | Member price | Non-member price | Member saving | Valued up to |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rolling Surf Resort, Caloundra | $500 | $599 | $99 | $1,299 |
| Wyndham Surfers Paradise | $500 | $599 | $99 | $1,165 |
| Club Wyndham Flynns Beach, Port Macquarie | $300 | $399 | $99 | $699 |
| Ramada Resort by Wyndham Golden Beach, Caloundra | $400 | $499 | $99 | $999 |
| Ramada Resort by Wyndham Port Douglas | $400 | $499 | $99 | $662 |
| Club Wyndham Airlie Beach | $450 | $549 | $99 | $951 |
See the pattern? On every one of these deals the member price lands $99 under the non-member price. That's the number that matters most for the "is it worth it" question, because it's the saving you only get by being a member.
Now, you'll notice we've listed the "valued up to" prices too. Those show what the package is valued at, and they're handy for seeing the size of the deal overall. But to keep this honest, we're not using them in our maths. We're comparing member price against non-member price only, because that's the bit your membership fee is actually buying.

Break-even, the simple version
Premium yearly costs $199. Each of the deals above saves a member $99 off the non-member price. So:
- One 3-night break a year: $99 saved against a $199 fee. On the member price gap alone, you're $100 behind.
- Two 3-night breaks a year: $198 saved against $199. You're essentially square, give or take a dollar.
- Three 3-night breaks a year: $297 saved against $199. You're about $98 in front.
And that's before a single GO Dollar has been spent. Which brings us to the bit that really tips the scales.
Where GO Dollars fit in (and where they don't)
GO Dollars are YONDA's travel credit. They land in your account every month you're a paid member, and according to our subscriptions page they never expire. Think of them like a holiday savings jar that someone else keeps topping up.
Here's the honest part, though: GO Dollars aren't cash, and you can't always throw the whole jar at one booking. Each deal shows how much you can redeem against it. For example, the deal cards for Wyndham Surfers Paradise, Club Wyndham Flynns Beach, Golden Beach and Airlie Beach each show "Redeem up to 99.00", while Port Douglas shows "Redeem up to 79.00". So the value you squeeze out of your GO Dollars depends on what, and how often, you book.
The maths with GO Dollars added
Let's go back to our Premium member taking two 3-night breaks a year, say Wyndham Surfers Paradise and Club Wyndham Flynns Beach. Using the redemption limits shown on those deal cards:
| Line item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Premium yearly fee | -$199 |
| Member saving, Surfers Paradise | +$99 |
| Member saving, Flynns Beach | +$99 |
| GO Dollars redeemed, Surfers Paradise (up to) | +$99 |
| GO Dollars redeemed, Flynns Beach (up to) | +$99 |
| Net position for the year | +$197 |
That's two beachy long weekends and you finish the year roughly $197 ahead of booking the same deals as a non-member, with GO Dollars still left in the jar. Not bad for a membership that costs less than a decent dinner for two.
Always confirm the final price at checkout, because the redemption amount is set per deal and dates and availability can shift things around.
YONDA member tip: because GO Dollars don't expire, there's no need to rush into a booking just to use them up. Let them stack while you wait for the right deal, then redeem the maximum on each trip. Patient travellers win here.
Real members, real numbers
Our subscriptions page shares actual bookings from YONDA members and the GO Dollars they put towards them. A couple of standouts:
- 15-Day Magnificent Europe river cruise, Budapest to Amsterdam: online price $14,435, with $2,190 in GO Dollars redeemed, so the member paid $12,245.
- The Venetian Resort, Las Vegas: online price $2,726, with $677 in GO Dollars redeemed, so the member paid $2,048.
Those are bigger trips, and they show how GO Dollars stack up over time. If a long-haul or a river cruise is on your bucket list, banking credit for a year or two before you book can take a serious bite out of the bill. Speaking of cruising, our breakdown of how YONDA members save thousands on cruise deals runs the same kind of numbers for life at sea.

Three traveller types: who wins, who doesn't
Numbers are great, but the real answer depends on how you travel. Here are three common Aussie travel styles and how the maths shakes out for each.
1. The once-a-year couple
One 3-night coastal escape a year, usually around a birthday or anniversary. On Premium yearly, the member saving ($99) plus GO Dollars redeemed on that trip (up to $99 on most of the deals above) adds up to around $198 against a $199 fee. Call it a wash. Our honest take: it's line-ball for you. You might come out ahead if you add a second short break, or if the giveaway entries and everyday savings appeal. If not, keep an eye on the deals as a non-member until your travel picks up.
2. The school-holiday family
Two or three getaways a year, often Queensland or New South Wales coast resorts with a pool the kids won't leave. This is the sweet spot. Three Premium member deals means about $297 in member savings plus up to roughly $297 in GO Dollars redeemed, against a $199 fee. That's close to $400 in front over a year, and those GO Dollars keep accumulating between trips. If you're booking more than three times, it's worth running the numbers on Ultra, which drops $150 in GO Dollars a month and adds Insider Deals and Supercharged Savings.
3. The big-trip planner
Fewer trips, but bigger ones: a European river cruise, a US holiday, a fortnight in Bali. Here the per-deal member saving matters less than the GO Dollars bank you build over time, plus the help of a human who knows the deals. Ultra's $1,800 a year in GO Dollars or Black's $3,000, plus Black's Yonda Concierge, can make a lot of sense for planners who'd rather someone else wrangle the flights, transfers and upgrades.
When a travel club isn't worth it
We said honest maths, so here's the other side of the ledger. A travel club membership probably isn't worth it for you if:
- You travel less than once a year. The fee keeps ticking while you're not booking. A monthly plan you pause or cancel is better than a yearly one you forget about.
- You only ever stay with family or friends. If you never pay for accommodation, there's nothing for the member price to discount.
- You won't actually use your GO Dollars. Credit is only valuable if you spend it. If you know you'll never get around to booking, be realistic.
- You need full flexibility on every booking. Many of our package deals are vouchers with set redemption windows and are non-refundable, so read the terms on each deal page before you buy.
None of these are deal-breakers forever. They're just good reasons to be honest with yourself about how you travel. The government's Moneysmart budgeting guide is a solid place to sanity-check any subscription against your yearly spending, travel clubs included.

How to make your membership pay for itself faster
If the maths stacks up for you, here's how to squeeze every last cent out of it.
- Go yearly once you're sure. As shown above, Premium yearly saves about $40 versus twelve monthly payments, and Ultra saves about $100.
- Book the member price, then redeem the max GO Dollars. Check the "Redeem up to" amount on each deal card so you know exactly how much credit you can use.
- Use the $99 deposit option. Several current deals (including Rolling Surf, Wyndham Surfers Paradise, Flynns Beach, Golden Beach, Port Douglas and Airlie Beach) offer a $99 deposit with "Buy now, choose dates later", which lets you lock in today's price and plan the dates afterwards.
- Watch the redemption dates. Each voucher has a "redeem by" date, from 30 June 2027 to 31 December 2027 on the deals above, so pop a reminder in your calendar the day you buy.
- Stack your giveaway entries. Entries accumulate and never expire, so the longer you're a member, the more chances you have in each monthly draw.
- Call us before you click. Our team is on 1800 096 632, 7 days a week from 9am to 7pm, and they'll happily tell you which deal gives you the best bang for your GO Dollars.
YONDA member tip: book school holiday and Christmas dates early. Rolling Surf Resort, for example, lists blackout dates from 11 December 2026, and popular dates at every resort sell out first. Locking in a voucher now and choosing dates later is the cheeky way to beat the rush.

The bottom line: is a travel club worth it?
For anyone who takes two or more paid holidays a year, the honest answer is yes. On our current deals, the $99 member saving per 3-night stay pays off Premium's $199 yearly fee after two trips, and GO Dollars push you comfortably into the black. For big-trip planners, the GO Dollars bank and concierge help on Ultra and Black can be worth far more than the fee.
For once-in-a-blue-moon travellers, it's closer to break-even, and that's okay. Start monthly, book one trip, and see if the numbers work for you. No lock-in means no harm done if they don't.

How many trips do I need to take for a travel club to be worth it?
